Dolgellau  36.V. 7  Abergele
                            Division 2 North  Saturday 2nd March 2019

Dolgellau and Abergele braved the ever worsening elements and slugged it out in atrocious conditions, Dolgellau gaining a valuable bonus point, and confirming Gele to certain 3rd Division rugby next season.
Dolgellau had the benefit of the elements in the first half, but the first quarter was pretty even and scrappy affair. Twenty five minutes had elapsed when Dolgellau prop, Huw Jones, made sufficient ground to put the hosts on the front foot, and the ball moved down the left touchline for full back, James Owen to barge over. On the half hour mark, Dolgellau centre, Eben Jones, scored Dolgellau’s second try, pouncing on a loose ball and winning the race for touchdown, making it 10-0. With four minutes of the half remaining, hooker Celt Lewis and full-back James Owen exchanged passes for  Lewis to barge over out on the left.  This time winger, Jake Hinge put over the conversion to give Dolgellau a 17-0 cushion at the interval.
Fifteen minutes into the 2nd period, the long awaited bonus score came, as skipper, Rhys Roberts, found room down the blind to find flanker, Marius Jones in good support to go over for the score and make it 22-0.
As the weather closed in, Abergele’s spirit never wilted, and they scored a deserved try going into the last quarter, as flanker Chris Maeler charged down Eben Jones’ clearance to touch down. The conversion by no.10 Ben Pamment made the score 22-7.  Pemment’s long clearances had kept Dolgellau out on a number of occasions, but on 30 minutes hooker, Eon Williams & flanker Guto Jones went close, Gele killed ball on the try line, and Dolgellau stand-off Jac Roberts took quick tap penalty to score under posts. Jake Hinge converted to make the score 29-7 and Gele had to finish the game with 14 due to a yellow card.
Dolgellau wrapped matters up with five minutes remaining. From a scrum five, Eben Jones’, now playing at stand-off , chip ahead and chase brought him a his 2nd try and duly Injured himself on the post in process, and ending his match there and then.  Jake Hinge added the extra to finish it 36-7
