Dolgellau  50.V. 5  Bangor
                     Div 2 North Saturday 26th January 2019

Both teams and match referee Simon Dignam should be given huge credit for keeping this match flowing in dreadful conditions, as the rain swept down all through the game.
Dolgellau had the benefit of the elements in the first half, but it took over a quarter of an hour to break down a resolute visiting defence. Hooker, Eon Williams came inches short before skipper Rhys Roberts finally breached the Bangor try line.  Centre, Henri Roberts converted to put the hosts 7-0 ahead. Ten minutes later prop Greg Smithies drove on, and quick ball to centre Carwyn Pugh saw him sprint clear under the posts. Again Henri Roberts converted to make it 14-0.
Bangor’s defence was working hard, and stand-off Steffan Owen cleared admirably into the gale, but on half hour a perfect cross field chip by Dolgellau stand-off, Jac Roberts, was gathered neatly by Carwyn Pugh, for no.8 Marius Jones to burst through to score. Henri Roberts again slotted over the extras to make it 21-0.  Bangor tried to release the pressure by gamely trying to run from deep, and the last play of the half saw Dolgellau wing, James Owen, interrupt the visitors’ backline, and chipped on, and the winger won the race to touch down. Again Roberts converted to give him 100% with the boot, and make the half time score 28-0.
Replacement wing, Jake Hinge, crossed thirteen minutes into the second period, with his first touch of the ball, and going into the last quarter Dolgellau scored tries by no 8 Marius Jones sprinting clear for his second of the game, and through veteran, Dylan Llewelyn, playing in the second row. Wing Jake Hinge added one conversion and Dolgellau led 45-0. Bangor kept plugging away and they scored a deserved try as no.8 Jonny Pymm darted over, with five minutes remaining. However Dolgellau wing, James Owen had the last word, finishing off some slick handling by the home three-quarters to score his second of the game and seal another impressive bonus point win for the Meirionnydd side.
