Dolgellau Rugby Club rafters raising money for good causes.
After months of forced paddling around their rain soaked Marian pitch, club players young and old have put their season's experience to good use, picking up paddles in place of wet rugby balls to take on the ‘Hope House /Ty Gobaith Mawddach Challenge’ on Sunday morning. The aim was to raise money for the North Wales children’s charity.
The race was for rafted canoes with six crew, to paddle from Barmouth harbour, easterly along the Mawddach estuary to Bontddu and return to the harbour. A distance of around eight miles.
It was a glorious day for all with the Dolgellau RFC teams coming in no less than first and second .
No doubt their experience in the ‘scrum’ at the start of the race and nipping down the wings under Barmouth bridge did give them a technical advantage....!!!!!!!! Well done ‘Team Dolgellau RFC ’ credit to you.
