Dolgellau 07.v.45 Llandudno
                             [Div 1 North] 05.05.2018]

A brave effort from a depleted Dolgellau side, with only the bare fifteen who started, against a very strong Llandudno side. Despite this it was a pretty open end of season contest, where both sides decided to throw caution to the wind and play an entertaining, expensive game from start to finish.

Dolgellau started brightly, and centre Henri Roberts and wing Rob Pugh came close on a couple of incursions deep into Llandudno territory. With the score 0-33 at the interval, Full-back, Gareth Hughes  almost created a scoring opportunity to wing, Ieuan Brooks early in the second half.

They were dealt a cruel blow as no.8 Rob Lewis, who has had an outstanding season, had to leave the field with a nasty knee injury. This left Dolgellau with only fourteen men to play out last half hour.

The score was 0-45 when Dolgellau scored a deserved try. With Welsh Bowl Final referee, Dylan Llyr, playing advantage, skipper, Gerwyn Thomas found wing Ieuan Brooks to find his way over for the try. Henri Roberts converted to make it 7-45 and so end the season.

There were some notable debutants amongst the brave fifteen who took to the field.
Brothers, Sam and Tim Jones joined older brother Marius Jones, who was outstanding for Dolgellau again, in the team.  There were rare appearances for Aron Griffiths at wing forward and Dan Hughes in the front row.
