                          Llangefni 34.v.11  Dolgellau

                            [Adran 1 Gogledd ] 02.09.2017

Siom enfawr i Dolgellau yn gem gyntaf o'r tymor newydd, a hynna yn ol yn adran gyntaf.Bu i Langefni ddominyddu y sgrymiau a’r llinellau yn yr hanner cyntaf gan eu galluogi i enill mantais sylweddol erbyn hanner amser.

Aeth Llangefni ar y blaen wedi ond 5 munud, gyda sgrym ar linell pum medr Dolgellau a arweiniodd at gais i’r asgellwr Gethyn Andrews yn y gornel dde.  Er ymdrechu’n galed, roedd Dolgellau yn methu gwneud argraff ar amddifyn yr ynyswyr, ond llwyddod Henri Roberts gyda cic gosb i wneud y sgor yn 5-3 wedi cwarter awr.

Llwyddodd rhif 8 Llangefni, Declan Griffiths i sgorio ail gais Llangefni gyda’r asgellwr, Rhys Hughes yn trosi i wneud y sgor yn 12-3, a gyda sgrym Dolgellau dan bwysau enfawr, daeth eu trydydd gais i Rhys Hughes, gan iddo drosi hefyd i wneud y sgor yn 19-3

Er enill peth meddiant, roedd hi’n brynhawn rhwystredig i Dolgellau yn y chwarae rhydd, gyda Llangefni yn arafu yr ail gylchu. Bu rhaid i’r dre fodloni gyda ail gic gosb i Henri Roberts i wneud y sgor yn 19-6 ar yr egwyl.

Gyda Dolgellau yn pwyso ddechrau yr ail hanner, bu i Langefni lwyddo i dori allan a sgorio dau gais arall, y gyntaf i’r asgellwr, Greg Horsman ac wedyn ei gyd-asgellwr, Rhys Hughes yn croesi am ei ail.  Bu’n llwyddiannus gyda un trosiad yn ogystal a cic gosb i roi Llangefni 34-6 ar y blaen  gyda hanner awr yn weddill.

Daeth Huw Jones a Dewi Pugh ym mlaen i sefydlogi y sgrym ac bu i Ddolgellau ddominyddu y gweddill o’r gem. Eto prin oedd y cyfleon, oherwydd amddiffyn y tim cartref, er i Langefni golli dau chwareuwr i gardiau melyn. Daeth un cyfle yn y diwedd, wrth i’r canolwr, Henri Roberts greu cyfle i’r mewnwr, Owain Thomas sgorio y cais i gloi y sgorio.

Llangefni’s domination of the set pieces in the first half and their efficiency in slowing down Dolgellau possession at the breakdown was more than enough to earn the islanders a deserved opening bonus point win between these two promoted sides.

They went ahead after only five minutes. A dominant scrum saw no.8 Declan Griffiths release wing Gethyn Andrews in at the corner.  Dolgellau could not penetrate a cast iron defence but centre Henri Roberts put the visitors on the score sheet with a penalty to make it 5-3 after quarter of an hour.

Llangefni No.8 Griffiths grabbed a push over try five minutes later which wing Rhys Hughes converted to make the score 12-3.  Dolgellau were under severe pressure in the set pieces and following a period of several penalty scrums, Llangefni wing Rhys Hughes crossed out wide for their third try, which he duly converted to stretch their lead to 19-3.

Llangefni frustrated the visitors at the breakdown, and all Dolgellau could muster for their effort was a second penalty from centre Henri Roberts to make the score 19-6 at the interval.

Two minutes into the second period Llangefni counter attacked with pace resulting in tries to wing Greg Horsman, a penalty to Rhys Hughes and the winger capped a fine day at the office with his second try of the day, adding the conversion to put Llangefni in a commanding 34-6 lead with half an hour still to play.

Dolgellau made changes to their creaking set piece, and to their credit, as Llangefni’s discipline cost them two yellow cards, dominated the remainder of the game. However all they could muster was a consolation try to replacement scrum half, Owain Thomas, who crashed over after centre Henri Roberts was hauled down on the try line.

Dolgellau will have plenty of work to do before next weeks’ home game against local rivals Bro Ffestiniog, and a trip to Bala the following week.
