Y Rhyl 07 .v. 37 Dolgellau [Adran 2 Gogledd Orllewin] 07.01.2017
Mae Dolgellau yn ol ar frig yr adran wedi iddynt sgorio chwe cais bendigedig yma ar Y Waun, ac hefyd oherwydd nad oedd Dinbych na Llangefni yn chwarae dros y penwythnos.
Wrth i'r Rhyl fod yn euog o gam-ddisgyblaeth eithaf cyson, aeth Dolgellau ar y blaen wedi deg munud gyda y capten, Gerwyn Thomas trosi cic gosb. Pedwar munud yn ddiweddarach wedi cic gosb sydyn fe lwyddodd y rhif 8, Danny Evans, ddarganfod yr asgellwr, Henri Robers, iddo yntau ymestyn dros y llinell am ei gais gyntaf. Er i Rhyl bwyso tuag at ddiwedd yr hanner, 0-8 oedd hi ar yr egwyl.
Deg munud i mewn i'r ail hanner, roedd gwrth-ymosod Dolgellau yn edrych yn beryg, gyda Gerwyn Thomas, Jac Roberts a Gareth Hughes yn rhyddhau'r cefnwr, Gerwyn Pugh am gais gwych. Troswyd y cais gan Thomas i wneud y sgor yn 0-15. Pum munud yn ddiweddarach, bu Leon Brooks enill pel lan o'r llinell a'r canlyniad oedd y canolwr, Dylan Evans fylchu yn wych i sgorio cais cofiadwy. Troswyd hwn hefyd gan Gerwyn Thomas.
Wedi cwarter awr, fe garlamoddd y blaenasgellwr, Dylan Llewelyn lawr yr asgell chwith cyn rhyddhau Henri Roberts am ei ail gais o'r gem. Roedd y sgor yn 0-27, cyn i Rhyl sgorio cais haeddiannol i Jack Hughes i wneud y sgor yn 7-27,
Fe ddarfu Dolgellau yn gryf iawn a bu Gerwyn Thomas a Henri Roberts lwyddo i greu cais i'r rhif 8, Danny Evans, gyda pum munud yn weddill, ac daeth ei ail gais yn y munud olaf wedi bylchiad gwych gan y canolwr, Gareth Hughes, a arweiniodd at Iwan Pugh yn creu lle i Evans groesi i gloi y sgorio a sgorio 6ed cais gwych i Dolgellau.

Dolgellau move four points clear at the Top of the division coutesy of six top drawer tries they scored here at Y Waun and also due to the inactivity of both Denbigh & Llangefni in the weekends' fixtures.
Dolgellau went ahead as Rhyl's indiscipline cost them dear, and skipper, Gerwyn Thomas slotted over a penalty after ten minutes play. Four minutes later, following a break up-field by skipper Thomas, Rhyl were caught off guard from a quickly taken penalty and no.8 Danny Evans put in wing Henri Roberts in at the left corner, for his first of two tries, to make it 0-8.
Rhyl were well organised in defence and enjoyed plenty of possession during the latter stages of the half, but could not penetrate a resolute Dolgellau defence, and the half ended nicely poised at 0-8 to the visitors.
A swift counter attack involving Thomas and scrum half Jac Roberts, resulted in centre Gareth Hughes putting in full-back Gerwyn Pugh in for a great score, ten minutes into the second period. Thomas added the conversion to put Dolgellau 0-15 ahead. Five minutes later the outstanding Leon Brooks won quick ball at a line out, that led to center Dylan Evans breaking clean through to score under the posts for another great score. Thomas, again, put over the conversion o make it 0-22.
After quarter of an hour, flanker, Dylan Llewelyn was free to roam down the left touchline from the halfway line, and wing Henri Roberts was in good support to finish in style for his second try of the match. This made the score 0-27, but Rhyl responded well and wing Joe Warhurst looked a menace on the Rhyl left on a number of breaks, but it was centre Jack Hughes who finally put his side on the score sheet after half an hour, as he finished a persistent drive by the home eight. He added the conversion for good measure and make the score 7-27.
However Dolgellau finished strongly, with Skipper Gerwyn Thomas and Henri Roberts combining to put no.08, Danny Evans in for another excellent try with five minutes remaining, and he crossed for his second try in the last minute, following a great break from centre Gareth Hughes, who found Iwan Pugh to put him in for the 6th Dolgellau try and complete the scoring at 7-37.
